Turkey Day Deal & Brick's Printable Coupon Tutorial

Many printable coupons have a max out feature.  In general it is two prints per computer, per IP address.  Brick's coupons are often limited to one, but there is a trick to scoring 2 of these high ticket beauties.

The Coty Commissary and TLC's Whack A Doodles

I am sure by now most of you have had the chance to watch TLC's "Extreme Couponers".  The show had it's high moments, but overall it was very sad.  If you follow along with my blog or you have attended one of my lectures, you already know what I do, how I do it, and why I do it.

THE TLC Show:
Painted an interesting picture of the high volume coupon user.  I think Jonie from The Krazy Coupon Lady did an excellent job.  She has a large stockpile in her garage, but a reasonable one considering her family recently needed to eat out of the stock pile alone for 1 year.  She was a little off for taking her pre-school aged child dumpster diving for coupons.  Picture mom wearing gloves and some PPE, kid just in the dumpster shuffling through paper to find more coupons.  She donated a ton of food during her segment.  I think very highly of her and what she has accomplished with her blog The Krazy Coupon Lady.  Through her blog and a network of churches and ladies group she has single handedly helped provide about $2 million worth of expired coupons to military families stationed around the world (They can be used on bases for 1 yr after expiration).  Bravo Jonie for all of the great work you do.

While Joanie educated us and entertained us the first lady and last man of the evening highlighted the Crazy things that Hoarding can do.  These 2 are ruining their marriages and lives by hoarding and being greedy.  They say that they donate products, but you are not donating to the best of your potential when your stockile includes 3000 toothbrushes and a 40 year supply of toilet paper for each person currently residing with you.  I may have 60 toothbrushes here. I also have 30 bottles of laundry soap.  The toothbrushes are being hoarded for next years Operation Christmas Child.  The laundry soap I will use within a year.  Buy when the price is low, but buy what you can reasonably use or share. 

I thought it was very sad that people are socially isolating themselves and being cruel on national TV to their friends and family members all in the name of being good at couponing.  I do not want my stockpile to be my legacy.  I want my legacy to be helping other's stretch their budgets.  I want my legacy to be the fact that I am able to help people out and make their days brighter.  The stockpile is just that, a stockpile.  I am not attached to the number of items I have.  I am fixated on the smiles I get when I give.  It is wonderful to hear stories about how bargain shopping can help carry a family though a struggle.  Join me in sharing your gifts and stockpile treasures with you neighbors, families and friends.  No one needs to buy out all of the Special K cereal in the name of  "winning".  Think about the ripple effect you may have in the community before you purchase all 40 Sunday papers at Rt 3 Stewart's locations.  When you act like a "Krazy Coupon" lady or lad, you are not helping improve the public image of coupon users.  Share, Share, and Share Some More (even when it looks impossible).

HOLIDAY CLEARANCE

• Anything left is now 90% off.
• If you have time to look through the grocery dept. you may find some smoking hot unmarked deals.
• Example- holiday/winter themed foods.  Right now there are tons of Pepperidge Farm Cocoa goldfish on clearance for 21cents a bag! They scan like that, but are not marked clearanced.  Grab one and scan it, it you are lucky you can pad your snack stockpile for CHEAP!  These would make a great daycare snack day treat.  They are also yummy served with homemade almond butter cream frosting (everything is better with dip!).
• Look for specially marked games in the toy department.  Special marked packages have high value coupons in them.  Uno is on sale for $5. Grab one that says it has a coupon in it- buy it for $5.
• Use Coupon from box #1 to buy another participating game (Sponge Bob Uno, Dora Snap) Nice Little deal that snowballs with volume. Why stop at 2? I like buy 1 get one, but Buy one..Get 5 sounds so much better. (Check Back In a Bit For My Post on Hoarding).

TOY CLEARANCE

• The signs say 30% off, but the stickers are ranging 30-75% off.  With that said the deals are not good enough deals for me quite yet.  There is an adorable baby doll with a nursery set of furniture for $25.00 (down from $69.99 I think).  Other than that the deals are good, but not spectacular.  I would expect the deals to get much better by Thursday or Friday.  Last year I scored almost $300 worth of toys for less than $22.  I love the 75-90% deals.

SWAGG an application review

I had a great opportunity to try our SWAGG recently.  What is SWAGG? It is a fantastic, easy to use iPhone application that organizes and stores all of your gift cards.  This review came at the perfect time for the holidays.  I love gift cards, but often misplace them or forget to take them with me.  This application solves those problems.  It is quick and easy to enter new gift card information into the SWAGG account.  When I am in a store, I just have to spend the ap and have the cashier scan the phone screen.  It is that simple.  SWAGG updates in real time and constantly monitors balances remaining.  This program is FREE and Functional.  SWAGG sent me a $20 SWAGG gift card to try out their flexible git giving options.  I was able to use the gift card at participating merchants in the store or online.  Here is the fun part- you can use part of the gift card with one merchant then convert the gift card to another merchant- FOR FREE & Without Limits!
Using my $20 credit, I was able to score 2 pairs of adorable clearanced Crocs for Emma.  I was able to order $60 worth of shoes and by starting with shopathome I earned 12% back, got 10% off, and took advantage of a free shipping offer.  Grand total $13.12 (before cash back).
At that point I could have moved my credits to a JCPenny or Omaha Steak card.  I chose to just wait for another sale.  Last night I found it!  Crocs has another great clearance event.  I was able to order 4 bucket bags and some neat file folders (waterproof for boot backpacks).  All of these items were $9.99 originally but marked down to $1.  $60 worth of products for $5.40 after using a shopathome 10% off code and free shipping code.  And I still have a $1.48 credit.  I love that I could have used the credit anywhere I wanted and that I could change my mind at anytime.  This Free ap is well worth playing with! It simplifies life and makes bargain hunting even more fun!
