Bird or Beef??

Is anyone else having a stroke over the price of FROZEN Turkey?  I am not paying $1.89 for something filled with bones and stuffed with gizzards and innards.  Where are the 29c a pound turkeys?  There are Butterball coupons HERE, but I just can't stand the thought of shelling out over $20 for Turkey.  Walmart birds with up to 40% salt solution are not an option either. 

Turkey Facts To Consider:

• Buy a bird big enough to allow for a pound and a half per person.
• If you want leftovers, buy one 2-3 pounds bigger.
• The carcass does weigh a decent amount, also the neck and giblets that are included can potentially weigh a good amount too. Say for example, in a 30 pound bird, the neck weighs a good 2 pounds right there! Yes THE NECK! (Would you pay $4 for a Turkey neck?)
• The fine folks over at http://www.thanksgivingturkey.com/ have all sorts of Turkey categories (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Holiday), but they are missing a category for CHEAP Turkey.
• Please share any deals you find.  At this rate Randy will be getting a pile of the 49c/lb Corned Beef I filled the freezer with on the day after St. Patrick's Day.  (There is a "deal" at Yando's- buy $150 in groceries, get a FREE turkey.  If you are tempted, take your $150 and run to any other grocery store.  I guarantee you can buy your turkey and double the amount of groceries!)

Master Lock 1500iD Speed Dial Combination Lock- Review and Giveaway

A few days ago I blogged about "Master Lock Vault" internet security program. CLICK HERE to read my review of that program and product.  It is a great concept and a great service to make your online life secure and your personal information protected.

The fine folks at Master Lock sent me an interesting little lock today.  I found it on Amazon.com and there is a link to the product with the widget.  My husband thinks it is really cool.  It has kept him busy for over an hour.  Just imagine what a little boy would think of such a gift.  This lock is very different from other Master Combination locks. 

According to Randy:

• You can operate it easily with one hand. ( I envision amputee.  he envisions an arm full of tools and only 1 free hand)
• The mechanism moves in 4 directions and the lock can be reset.  There are no numbers to remember only thumb movements.
• It's a nifty lock and I have a feeling it would make a great stocking stuffer for dads, husbands, sons and the like.

Rite Aid Video Values, Hot Coupon Book & Gift of Savings

There is a hot new Video Values coupon for a free coupon book.  This is available at both Plattsburgh locations in the Pharmacy.  It sounds like a new version of the "Flu Shot" coupon book.  Stack the coupons in the booklet with manufacturer coupons for huge savings.

Who remembers the Gift of Savings Program?  Word on the street says the 2010 program is rolling out on the 26th.  The promos are out but deal details are not.  Last year the program offered RA gift certificates on top of SCR.  Looking back at the last few Gift Of Savings events, RA mailed $20 gift certificates when I brought home $100 worth of product.  This has always been based on pre-coupon totals.  This program has always turned Rite Aid shopping into a massive $$ maker for me!  I will pass along the details as I find them! In the meantime- save all of your receipts!

Borders Gift Card Buying Bonus- and Gift Card Deals in General

It is time to plan for holiday purchases, if you have not already.  I start in January, so I am working to finish holiday shopping as rapidly as I can.  My goal this week is to finish purchasing holiday gift cards with Mypoints, Charter Cable Rewards points, and Swagbucks.  I already have a stockpile going and I plan on adding to that stockpile for no additional $$ out of pocket. 

My Points is a great way to earn rewards points.  I just earned a pile of them by completing a car insurance quote offer.  I really didn't think anyone could save me much, but we're back with Geico (and are saving $90 every 6 months).  I earned enough points to score about $100 worth of gift cards.  Take these 2 factors and that equals out to be buy 6 months of car insurance get 6 months for free when all is said and done.  Was it worth having my email and phone flooded with calls and emails from insurance agents across the state? Yes it was.  My reward points were well worth it! 

I never bought into the whole Swagbucks search engine concept until last week.  I earned a $5 Amazon gift card for just doing my regular, run of the mill Google searches with their tool bar.  Not a bad return for something I am doing anyway. 

If you live in the Champlain Valley, chances are high that you have Charter Cable.  Are you taking advantage of the "Live It With Charter" rewards program?  It is FREE and I have cashed in on piles of gift cards this year.  There is a reward/redemption period starting at 2pm EST Tomorrow (11/9/10).  They will have Toys R Us gift cards and the theme is holiday gifts for kids.  How appropriate!
