Got Pugs?

You're either a pug person or your not.  I have yet to find someone who can "just tolerate" them.  I'll admit that I was a bit dumbfounded the first time I met our "nephew" Puddles.  I wasn't quite convinced he was really a dog.  The snoring, sneezing, begging, and scooting turned me into a pug loving "aunt". I am proud to say I am a pug person The first thing we did after we were under contract for our house was find a good pug breeder and order one of our own.  Rufus joined us and a few short months later we brought home Riley.  Pugs are like potato chips- it's hard to have just one!  Poor Rufus has his own issues- allergies, kidney stones, and a leg cyst, now a cataract.  He is still a great pug-a-roo and we are glad that he has enjoyed almost 8 years with us.  We lost Riley in 2007, he was a great little guy, but would have traded us in for my mother any day of the week.  Where is this going? I'll get there I promise... When Riley passed away Rufus was bonkers.  Digging his skin, not eating, refusing his meds- a real dill pickle!  We knew he needed a friend, but a puppy would not have been a good fit.  We had supported the Green Mountain Pug Rescue for a few years so they were the perfect place to find our new family member.  We were blessed with Taz, a blind black pug.  He was with us for 2 years before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  He really was the best and we miss him terribly.  Of course Rufus hit the replay button and needed a new friend- so did we!  Here is where our Lucy Lu enters the family.  Poor Lucy came from a nasty breeder in NYC.  After 10 litters and 48 puppies, they threw her away after her last Christmas puppy was weaned.  They let her "husband" die- and handed her over to the Rescue as a cast off.

If you are looking for a dog that needs minimal exercise and will return more love than you can imagine please check Green Mountain Pug Rescue out!  Karen Powers is an angel on earth.  GMPR takes in any pug that needs a home.  They save many puppy mill pugs.  The provide hospice care to pugs in distress and place the castoffs into loving foster and forever homes.  I am so thankful that this great organization has helped us find some amazing animals.
