Target Coupon Policies

You either love it or hate it- around here WE LOVE IT!  After several years filled with monthly trecks two hours south to get our Target fix, we are delighted to have our own target (15 minutes from my front door).  For the most part Target is very coupon friendly.  Individual cashiers have their own beefs with coupon users- I will be adding a new feature (I may call it Coupon Nazi's)- that highlights helpful cashier's and boos the stinkers!

Here is the Scoop on Target's coupon policy.......

Target Will Take:

  • Internet Manufacturer Coupons
  • Regular Manufacturer Coupons
  • Their Own Store Coupons (Click Here for My Favorite Target Coupon Generator)
  • Target will Take One Store Coupon and One Manufacturer Coupon for 1 Product
  • You can use multiple Target coupons, one per item (a single item is a single transaction.  You are not limited to one per total purchase.  It's all one big game of semantics!)

Target Will Not:
  • Price Match
  • Take Competitor Coupons
Additional Information (you may want to print this and keep it with you- it will come in very handy one day!) From Customer Service- INFO RIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH (aka; Target's Spectacular Customer Service Hotline)
  • If you have any questions about a specific coupon or experience using a coupon at Target, we want to help! Please give our Guest Relations team a call at (800) 440-0680. We'll do the best we can to help you as quickly as possible. Thanks for asking us about using coupons at Target. Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it’s easy to use them at our stores. Because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target.

When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:
  • We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
  • We’ll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
  • We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we’re able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
  • We can’t accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
  • All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you’re checking out.
  • For questions about using a specific coupon, we encourage you to stop by Guest Service and ask to speak with the Guest Service Team Leader. They’ll do their best to help while you’re in the store. If you still have questions after speaking with them, please call our Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. Either way, we’re here to help!
It never hurts to remind the Coupon Nazi's that Target has a corporate coupon policy.  Individual stores cannot change this policy.  If a coupon is not recognized by the computer tell them to hit F1- this will override the error code and magically deduct the value of the coupon.

Price Chopper- Are you a Chopper Shopper?

Price Chopper has so many wonderful programs. If you learn their sale cycles and pay attention to their new end of week promotions you can easily slash your grocery budget and save AT LEAST 50%. At this point I typically save 75-90% every time I go. The only exception to that is when I stock up on meat.

Price Choppers Coupon Policy varies greatly from store to store. We are lucky in Plattsburgh! Our store has a fantastic coupon policy.

Price Chopper Accepts:
  • Catalina Coupons
  • Manufacturer coupons (from mass media sources, newspapers, etc)
  • Price Chopper and Manufacturer Coupons Printed From the Internet (reliable sources with validity marks)
  • Price Chopper will price match by bringing your receipt and a competitors print ad to the customer service desk.
  • Price Chopper doubles all coupons $1 and under. They will double coupons until they have discounted your total order to the 50% off mark, then single the rest. There are many tricks to get around that, which I can teach at one of my coupon parties.
  • Price Chopper will apply coupons to the point of an item being free, but will not issue a refund for overages left after coupons are used to bring OOP (Out of Pocket) cost to $0.

Price Chopper Advantage Card

  • To maximize savings make sure that you have an active, registered Advantage Card. Scan it in the iSave machines for custom coupons when you enter the store. Remember that Price Chopper and Sunoco have teamed up to offer $$ off of gas purchases based on your spending at Price Chopper.
  • Sign up online to get emailed special coupons, coupon packs throughout the year, and other promotions.

Rite Aid At A Glance

I must confess, I had never stepped into Rite Aid until April of this year. With all of the options available, it just seemed like a store that had nothing new or exciting to offer. My attitude that placed Rite Aid into the category of "just another drug store" vanished the moment I learned these three magic words: Single Check Rebate

Every month Rite Aid rolls out another great rebates catalogue of all new offers. It is very easy to combine coupons with sales, pay little out of pocket, and actually make money on the items you buy (AKA- free with overage) at the end of the month when your rebate check arrives. The rebate program is simple, as long as you have internet access. Sign up is easy and once you are enrolled you enter 4 #s found at the top of each reciept into your online account. Their computer system does the rest. Your qualifying rebates will be displayed withing a few days online and you can request your rebate once per rebate period. Often I end up with a large check rebate, many Rite Aid gift cards, and special promotions (coupons, tote bags, etc).

Rite Aid's New Coupon Policy is Simple and easy to understand.

RiteAid Will Take
  • Their own Store Coupons (newspaper or internet)
  • Regular Manufacturer Coupons
  • Internet Printable Manufacturer Coupons up to a $5.00 value
  • You can use 1 Rite Aid Promotion/coupon and 1 manufacurer's coupon per item
  • If an item is BOGO you can use 2 manufacturer's coupons to try to get both for free.

Rite Aid Will NOT:

  • Price Match
  • Take Competitor Coupons

We have 2 Rite Aid stores in Plattsburgh. The Skyway Plaza (Rt 9) location is super coupon friendly. I have never had a problem with coupon use there. The Route 3/Cornelia Street location is another story. I have contacted corporate and they are doing their best to educate the Rt.3 Management team and clerks to allow for better corporate compliance. If they give you a problem ask for a manager. If you have a printable coupon that will not scan and the coupon is from a good source (coupons.com, the company itself) demand a manager and remind them that the corporate policy states they take all Internet coupons up to a $5 value.

Over the last 3 months Rite Aid has rolled out additional savings coupons via www.coupons.com and each month they have been adding 2-4 Take $5 off a $25 purchase coupons. They also have a new Adworks video program on the www.riteaid.com homepage. Sign up to earn great coupons by watching short product demonstrations. They will also notify you of special sales and store wide promotions.

2009 Corporate Coupon Policy for ALL US Target Stores.
Request a hard copy of the policy be mailed to your home from the nice people at Target Guest Relations. After Target sent me this policy at my request, I inquired if individual stores are required to uphold this policy or if they may impose their own more-stringent rules or variations. The response from Target was, "All Target stores should be following the same coupon policy. The next time you have an issue using coupons please have them call us at (800) 440-0680 while you're still in the store. Our Guest Relations Team will help assist with any questions they may have about coupons."
Please be sure you print the whole policy including the Target Guest Relations phone number and keep it with you, so that if there is any question in validity the cashier or managers can call the 800 number.
