Beauty And The Beast Deal

The new Beauty and the Beast (plus FREE Princess CD), comes out on Tuesday, October 5! Emma will love this one and I love to replace our very old VHS copies with the new DVD/Blu-Ray packs!   You can print a coupon to save $10/1 Beauty & the Beast Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack HERE. Target or Walmart,  will always be the cheapest I can find locally.  At Target, the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will be priced at $24.99, so you pay only $14.99 after the coupon.

This combo pack is also one of the "earn a free charm" for the free charm bracelet (introduced with Tinkerbel a few weeks ago).  Look for special marked packs.  You will still need to pay S&H, but I thought less than $3 for a bracelet and charm was pretty fair.  The perfect stocking stuffer here this year!

Play your cards right and the deal is better.  There are two mail-in-rebates you can use:

Something to Smile About at Champlain Smiles!

I would like to introduce you to Dr. Athena Graves.  She is a genius in the world of modern dental care.  She actually guarantees her work (with regular check ups and good dental hygiene).  Can you believe it?  I had never heard of that before, but I LOVE the concept.  Dr. Graves owns and operates Champlain Smiles.  Her office is located in Airport Plaza at 762 Route 3 Plattsburgh, NY 12901.  You can reach her by calling 518-324-CARE.  If the guarantee/warranty are not enough to make you schedule an appt. right away, add a complementary consultation to the list of perks.  You will not find a more forward thinking and technologically advanced dental practice in the Champlain Valley.

Dr. Graves has designed a great web page that allows consumers to get to know her and the services she offers.  CLICK HERE to explore all of the fantastic services she can provide.

Dr. Graves is also a coupon clipping frugalista and recently shared a great shopping tip for scoring exceptional wine and cheese on a shoestring budget.  Have you ever been to Cheese Traders & Wine Sellers in South Burlington VT? I had never heard of it, but it is a gem, and I will return frequently.  They are located at 1186 Williston Rd. South Burlington, VT 05403-5723 and their phone number is (802) 863-0143.  You can explore everything they offer HERE.  They offer a large variety of cheese, wine, and gourmet snacks at bargain basement prices.

Disclosure:  This post is my 2 cents and is based on my personal opinions.  I have not been compensated in any way.  I truly feel that Dr. Graves is focused on quality service and providing the highest standard of dental care.  Her foreword thinking, compassion, and dedication to quality patient care places her at the head of the pack!

Walgreen's Deals 9/26-10/2/10- Yes I will shop there, just not in the pahrmacy

Walgreen's is still a wonderful place to shop.  Employees like Tracey and Shallen make coupon shopping fun.  They always go above and beyond to take care of customer questions or issues.  They are happy to accept my coupons.  I always leave with a smile on my face after checking out with one of them.  I have had excellent customer service from Rob (mgr.) on many occasions in the store.  If you have attended a recent coupon clipping lecture or event you will recall all of the wonderful things I say about Walgreen's.  Those things are still true.  Today Rob listened to my complaints after the great pharmacy debacle.  He was very receptive listening to my complaints about his pharmacy.  He is great and in general he runs a wonderful store that adds to our community in a wonderful way.  I am sure he will do what he can to try to build a good pharmacy team, but I'll leave that to other people to find out.  My husband has been threatened with starvation (I may have to lock up all 12 boxes of Cookie Crisp.  Hide all 18 cans of FREE Campbell's soup.  Booby trap the storage closets and the pantry.  Life will not be good for him if he ever ventures to Walgreen's pharmacy again.  NO POSSIBLE GOOD COULD EVER COME OF IT.  I am vocal and like to talk, so I am the squeaky wheel, but what about the folks that are scared? What happens the next time a little 85 year old lady, from Lyon Mountain, ventures into Plattsburgh via the cart bus and meets the scrooge when trying to fill her medication on day 29 of the cycle? The day before a blizzard? She may accept the fact that "it can't be done".  She will climb back onto the Cart Bus and accept that she must wait out the blizzard.  Hopefully she tells the Cart bus driver and he takes her over to Target.  The land of excellent customer service, critical thinking, and problem solving.  She will get her meds, return home to bake molasses cookies while the snow piles high and Visions of Target will dance in her head.  And with her medications no one will find her dead in her bed.  When her friend suggests that she go to Walgreen's the following month she will stick her fingers in her ears and sing "LALALALA I Cant hear you."  OK- Enough said about how much I HATE Walgreen's Pharmacy.  I look forward to a wonderful bargain hunting trip in a few weeks.  I am hoping the shopping endorphins that only come from scoring a cart full of FREE and Cheap treasures will make me think warm fuzzy thoughts about Walgreen's Again!

A Word On Flu Shots
All of the pharmacies are doing in house Flu Shots.  Walgreen's is offering them, but not with Perks.  Rite Aid is giving out a massive book of coupons (that you can just ask for without getting the shot).  Target is also offering the shots there.  If you have to get a shot you might as well get one that comes with a prize or from someone that smiles and is able to carry on a conversation.

OK back to Walgreen's

Walgreen's Pharmacy Nightmare....One Of Those Posts About A Less Than Perfect Employee

I love to shop at Walgreen's and honestly thought their hours of operation for the pharmacy would make them leader in the local pack.  Last month Randy had a doctors appt in the late evening.  He took all of his prescriptions to Walgreen's because they are open until 9pm.  I was pleased with their hours when I broke my foot a few months ago.  Words to the Wise: TAKE YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS AND RUN (Right over to Target- Preston and his staff with be more than happy to meet your needs with a smile).  Refilling prescriptions should not be difficult.  If I call to refill an Rx and do not get a call back telling me of a problem I become irritated.  I called and specifically asked if it was too early to fill.  I was told it would be ready by 2:30pm.  When we got there we were told that "I need to check it".  This was 2.5 hrs after the time I called to request the refill.  We had to drive over three massive bumps to get to their pharmacy. Add on the fact that I am in pain and today was a rather crappy day; I wanted to scream this afternoon.  The Rx I was attempting to refill for my husband is a controlled substance.  Last month he filled it on the first, That leaves 4 days worth of medication left.  Since I cannot drive or be left alone following a rather horrible surgery yesterday, the trips to Plattsburgh are going to be limited this week.  By all means- control the substances, but stick to a consistent policy.  Inform people when they call to request a refill.  Don't make us drive there and wait for an eternity.  The pharmacist does not understand NY State Controlled substance law.  According to him these Rxs can only be filled on the 30th day after they are written or filled.  Hog wash.

What can I do to boycott their service? Blog about it and make sure my family never fills anything there again.  I certainly would not recommend them to my patients or coupon clipping friends.  I would go to Walmart Pharmacy first.  Anyone who knows me, knows that Walmart is on the bottom of my list of stores to visit.  Not anymore!

The kind folks at Target have transferred every Rx.  Our doctor called to cancel the controlled substance refills.  We will pick up a new paper Rx on Friday and bring it right over to Target.  On Friday I will pick up all of our Rx refills and transfers at Target.  The retail value will be about $2200.00.  Target has earned that.  Walgreen's will not see 1 cent of it.

Why Do I love Target Pharmacy?
  • They provide exceptional customer service
  • They call you if they encounter a problem with a refill
  • They explore programs other than regular health insurance to save $$
