8 pennies for packing tape

CLICK HERE to print a $1 off coupon. It is on sale at Walmart for $1.08. Still not a good enough deal to get me into the place, but a super deal if you are going anyway!

Annie's Homegrown Mac N Cheese- 59 cents at Target

CLICK HERE to score a few great coupons for "Annie's Homegrown".
Make sure to print 2 of each- they will likely go fast. The Mac-N-Cheese is on sale for $1.09 at Target through 1/9, but 59c is even better!

Fruits & Veg...Free, Organic, and Cheap

If anyone tells you that you will NEVER find coupons for produce they are WRONG!!! You will find coupons for Oreos, Ding-Dongs, and Candy much easier, but with minimal effort you can score great deals on greens, fruit and lots of organic produce. The bad news- you will need to sign up for email and snail mail.

Here are my favorite sources for coupons to stuff into my "Produce" envelope;

http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com
This is a forum- there are a million links and the sky is the limit.

http://www.ebfarm.com/
Tons of coupons monthly= free spinach and salad mix.

http://solutions.delmonte.com/
Canned, but still in the right spot on the food pyramid (is it still called that?)

http://www.dole.com/Promotions/tabid/966/Default.aspx
Pineapple, salad, packaged, an occasional banana

http://www.organicvalley.coop/coupons/
Print and request mailings. This has been a great source for free organic dairy recently.

http://www.i-farms.com/dg_products.asp
This is the link to the "Disney Garden". When they send coupons they are top notch- if you can find the product. Price Chopper carries the bananas, apples, and (avocado on occasion).

In the summer of 2008 I planted a few veggies with good results. Last summer my crops expanded significantly, but it was a flop. The blight killed most of it. We basically ended up with 1 meal of broccoli, 2 red cabbage, and eggplant large enough to feed a single smurf. It was mostly an experiment and was cheap, but it was a disaster.

This is what I am toying with for 2010, but I would love to hear from someone who has done it before. I have been satisfied with everything I have bought from them at the Plattsburgh Farmer's market. They are really lovely people. The price is attractive when I consider what I spend on produce overall. Any thoughts?

Johnson&Johnson Rebate $10 money maker

CLICK HERE to visit coupons.com (This coupon was on page 4 for me- using zip code 90210)
There is a great offer from Johnson & Johnson. Click to “clip” and you’ll print the one page rebate form with a barcode (that are unique and the limit seems to be one per person, although the rules are not too clear.)
To earn the Rebate: You must purchase $30.00 worth of products from 2 or more of the following brands between January 10, 2010 and February 5, 2010: AMBI, AVEENO, CLEAN & CLEAR, PURPOSE, LUBRIDERM, and RoC. Purchase excludes tax, trial sizes and cleansing bars.
The rebate is for $30 worth of products, not $30 OOP. Paired with sales and coupons this can be a huge $$ maker! As the shopping window approaches I will match this offer up with sales and coupons. In the meantime print some coupons and save them. Remember not to shop until Jan 10th-Feb 5th.

Homeowner's Insurance (Or Renter's Insurance)

I just read the front page of the paper and was delighted that at least one local family was fully insured after a total loss fire. Insurance cannot protect us from devastation and loss, but it can help rebuild and move forward. Have you looked at your policy lately?

Two weeks ago we had a septic/sewage nightmare! Emma was flushing small dinosaurs and other treasures. We do not have town or municipal sewage (this was a shock to the insurance company phone rep.)A simple plumbing issue turned into near disaster. The water and yuck literally stopped within inches of my daughter's Christmas Gifts. Divine intervention- I am convinced! I would have needed a trip to a padded room if the Zhu Zhu pets had been scrapped.

Here is the moral of the story- Make sure your policy covers "Replacement" of contents. I am an insurance bug and have always made sure that we have more coverage than we need. I cannot sing enough praise for Traveller's Insurance! From local agents (Chris and Michelle Rowell and Sara!), local adjusters (Trish- thank you for freezing with me while we inventoried contents), and Corporate Traveller's( for calling to poll our satisfaction).

The new year is a perfect time to check your coverage to make sure it will cover your needs if you find yourself in a "crappy" situation (Pun Intended). We pay a reasonable premium for a low deductible, but it was 100% worth it. Traveller's was there when we needed them- no fuss, timely service, and with exceptional customer service. Again just my 2 cents, but food for thought.

Happy New Year
